Warning signs

Is your absorption trench failing?

Over time, absorption trenches can clog and stop draining properly. Watch for:

  • Soggy ground or pooling water over the trenches
  • Sewage smells in the yard
  • Slow drains or gurgling toilets
  • Unusually green, lush grass over the trench area

Not sure what’s going on? A CCTV drain inspection can show what’s happening inside the lines.

Septic & absorption trench FAQs

What is an absorption trench?

Absorption trenches take the water that flows out of your septic tank and let it soak into the surrounding soil.

How do I know if my absorption trench is failing?

Common signs are soggy ground or pooling water over the trenches, sewage smells in the yard, slow drains or gurgling toilets, and unusually lush grass over the trench area.

Can you repair my existing septic system?

Yes – we repair septic tanks and absorption trenches, and replace trenches that have failed.

Do you install pump-out pits and sewer connections?

Yes – we install new pump-out pits and connect properties to the sewer network.

Do I need a plumbing permit?

Yes. Septic and absorption trench work needs a plumbing permit from your local council. The property owner is responsible for obtaining the permit before work starts.
